Breast Cancer Saved My Life

While I was speaking at the 50 Shades of Pink event in Castroville, TX, a lovely woman approached me and said, “Breast cancer saved my life.”

Her story is nothing short of a miracle. She found a lump in her breast during a self-check examination. After a doctor’s visit, she was diagnosed with Stage 2 Breast Cancer. But this is not the end of the story. Her surgeon also found a more serious problem- a life-threatening aneurysm. After her repair surgery and breast cancer treatment, her passion in life is to speak with women on the importance of having regular mammograms and self-check routines. Wow, what a story!

When I speak for women, I always conclude my presentations with my original Healthy Woman Song. Go here for a good laugh and healthy reminder! My book, “What Ta-Tas Teach Us” is also a great reminder of what our female anatomy teaches us.

Chad Hymas Reminds Us to Put Family First

ChadHymasChad Hymas was our speaker this past weekend for the Carolinas Chapter of the National Speakers Association meeting. Chad’s presentation was amazing and inspiring – truly from the heart of a champion. Because of Chad’s physical condition, he had to wake up at 4 AM to be ready for our 9 AM meeting. Chad’s passion for his faith, family and sharing his message touched our hearts. Here is an excerpt from Chad’s bio:

The Wall Street Journal calls Chad Hymas “one of the 10 most inspirational people in the world!” Chad inspires, motivates, and moves audiences, creating an        experience that touches hearts for a lifetime. He is one of the youngest ever to receive the Council of Peers Award for Excellence (CPAE) and to be inducted intothe prestigious National Speaker Hall Of Fame. In 2001, at the age of 27, Chad’s life changed in an instant when a 2,000-pound bale of hay shattered his neck, leaving him a quadriplegic. But Chad’s dreams were not paralyzed that day – he became an example of what is possible. Chad is a best-selling author, president of his own Communications Company, Chad Hymas Communications, Inc., and is a recognized world-class wheelchair athlete. In 2003, Chad set a world record by wheeling his chair from Salt Lake City to Las Vegas (513 miles).

Speaking Engagement … An Evening of Laugher and Tears

Covenant Banner

I was the speaker for Covenant Care Services, a Christian adoption agency for middle Georgia.  My dream speaking engagement is sharing my humor and singing with just this type of group.  These women have hearts of gold as they educate young women about adoption. The leadership team led by Former First Lady of Georgia Mary Perdue and former Chair Sandra Neal were amazing.  It touched my heart to be in the presence of great women of God who serve these precious babies, anxious birth moms, and excited adoptive parents. Covenant Care Services provides post-adoption counseling for any birth mom who has chosen to make an adoption plan for her baby as well as post-abortion counseling. It is a wonderful ministry!  Thirty-thousand dollars was raised that evening and the five hundred women who attended were lovely.

I always share some humor at the opening of my speech.
